Emergency Tax is an alternative basis of tax deduction. Income Tax and Universal Social Charge (USC) are deducted from your pay at the Emergency Tax rates by your employer. This happens in certain circumstances where your employer is unable to obtain a Revenue Payroll Notification (RPN) for you.  To avoid paying Emergency Tax, you need to:

give your employer your Personal Public Service Number (PPSN) and ensure your job is registered with Revenue.

Emergency tax / overpaid tax can be claimed back by employees only when the updated RPN is received by Kaizen Workforce Solutions from Revenue. RPN is the Revenue Payroll Notification and is requested from Revenue by the employer, in this case Kaizen Workforce Solutions.

Kaizen Workforce Solutions will calculate the correct tax that you should have paid since the start of the year (January) and will refund any tax and Universal Social Charge (USC) that you have overpaid on your next pay day. The date Kaizen Workforce Solutions receives the RPN will determine which pay day will include your refund.

We must have your PPS number by end of day on a Tuesday to facilitate accurate payroll for the same week. A Personal Public Service (PPS) Number helps you access social welfare benefits, public services and information in Ireland, and is required to obtain the updated tax certificate for an employee and process payroll submissions to Revenue. A PPS Number is always 7 numbers followed by either one or two letters. PPS numbers must be provided to Finance Team in writing as soon as received from Revenue.

Any requests to cease employment must be submitted to Finance team in writing. Please email payroll@Kaizenworkforcesolutions.com. Kaizen Workforce Solutions must be notified in writing of your final working day.

Any outstanding holidays at the day of cessation will be processed along with the last pay.

ONLY the employer can terminate your job to obtain the correct Revenue tax status with any further employment. Employment Termination must be requested with employer! If this process is followed correctly, no action is required from the employee.

Holidays for Temporary Workers are calculated at 8% of basic hours worked. For Example: An Employee worked 400 basic hours – so they are entitled to 32 hrs of paid holidays [400 Hours x 8%]

Bank Holiday entitlements are calculated as 1/5th of the average working hours over 5 weeks preceding the Bank Holiday.

An employee must work a minimum of 40 hrs within 5 weeks preceding BH to be entitled to payment.

The number of hours paid will be presented on your payslip each week. These hours will match the timesheet Finance have received.

Any missing hours must be queried firstly with your line manager, who may be the supervising individual within the client to who you are assigned and/or your Kaizen Workforce Solutions Account Manager. If it is confirmed by your line manager and/or Account Manager that hours are in fact missing these managers will be added to the timesheet and processed for payment in the following weeks payroll.
